Abstract text
Abstract:
This workshop has been merged with workshop "Including data from protocols on qualitative research findings in REVMAN, current version and a wish list."

Objectives:
This workshop will outline the procedures for completing a protocol that includes qualitative evidence synthesis.

Description:
At the time of workshop submission, five protocols have been submitted to various Cochrane Review Groups that contain plans for qualitative evidence synthesis. We expect that more will be submitted this year. Experience shows that some parts of the existing Cochrane template lend themselves easily to describing the process of including qualitative evidence synthesis, while other sections of the template are more problematic. Protocol authors have devised various strategies for presenting their protocols, which have helped Review Groups to understand the process. This workshop will use actual submissions of protocol outlines and title registrations to demonstrate how to complete a protocol using qualitative research. Challenges for review editors will be described, as well as strategies for providing support from the Cochrane Qualitative Reseach Methods Group. Implications for revising the existing protocol template will be discussed.
